Finished - Mint Crop Top

After making this dress and tank out of this mint fabric there wasn't much left to work with. Instead of just leaving the tiny piece of fabric with all my others, I decided to quickly sew something with it... a new crop top.

If my closet is going to be full of crop tops I might as well make an effort into making them different. This episode of lazy girl attempts to be different, why not add a sash? Technically it's the same idea I had with the mint tank I made, but this one is in a different place. So... not that creative but I really like it anyways!

Finished - Mint Tank Top

I don't know if you noticed, but I'm a bit obsessed with tank tops. 80% of all the shirts I own are tank tops. I don't really wear anything else even though I live exclusively live in cold countries. It doesn't matter what season it is, I wear sleeveless tops. Obviously this means I can't have enough because it's all I wear.

When all you wear is one type of top, you try to make sure that it's not too plain. The lazy way out of stopping my tank tops from looking plain lately has been adding ties to my tops. This minty fabric felt perfect for nice ties around the neckline. The amount of times I've worn this top this summer is a bit embarrassing, but what can I say, I love this top.

New In - Diy Mint Green Tank Dress

I walked past this fabric at the fabric store and knew I had to buy it. I really like a mint green/seafoam green colour but don't actually own anything in that colour. Personally I thought the fabric was nice enough that I didn't need to do anything complicated with it.

This is a favourite fit and shape for a dress. Just simple and lose with a curved hem. The extra panel was added mostly because I love drapey dresses and this gives me the option of making it look drapey.

New In - Red Dress

Here's my new red paneled dress.  It was really quick to whip up and I'm really happy with the results. Did I mention that red with orange tones are my favourite? Two pieces in a row that are very similar in colour. I have a habit of sewing in similar colours. I'm really lazy so if I already have red thread in my machine, I'll sew red things instead of re-threading...

I don't like wearing the same exact thing multiple times. I don't mean that in an obnoxious, "I must have lots of clothes" way though. I just like pieces that have options and are versatile. That's why I tend to not like dresses. It's basically an entire outfit in one piece and not many ways of changing how it looks. That's where this dress is different. It has a loose panel down the middle (back & front) which makes it versatile. This is how it looks on its own, but add a belt, and you can really change things up.

From sheath to a little more shape.

Now it's a little more architectural.

Slight draping makes it a little more romantic.

Or a bit of a bow to add some sass.

Diy Tank Top

I know I said I'd iron my pieces before I took pictures of them but technically I did. I just left the tank tossed in a heap with other things overnight to get wrinkled again. This is one of the fabrics I photographed before. It's a nice blue crepe de chine which I only really bought enough of to make a tank, which made the decision making process of what to make easy.

It's just an easy loose fitting tank with a high neck. I didn't want it to look extremely boring so I added the slit and front seam just to break it up a bit.
