Finished - Blue Fringe Top

I'm a big believer in the idea of having multiples when you find a piece of clothing you really like. When I made this orange top, I fell in love right away and barely took it off. Considering orange isn't exactly the most wearable colour it actually says a lot more about how much I really loved the top. When I bought this blue fabric I was more than excited to be able to make another version of the top in my favourite colour.

I'm still in love with the texture and asymmetry of this top but I did make a slight alteration from the previous version. In the new version I made less of a difference in the hems so that the proportions work a bit better. I love having another version of my asymmetric fringe top and it's great that I've been able to improve it a bit.

Finished - Beige & Orange Tank

Yeah, another tank top, not exactly exciting... but nonetheless, here's a new make of mine.

Lately it's all about curved hems for me. I like them because they look nice layered underneath sweaters which are what I wear most of the year. Sometimes you have to think about how you're wearing a piece instead of just what you want to make.

Finished - Black & White Print Tank

Sometimes when I need something to distract myself I like to whip up a quick tank top. I've done enough of them that it takes no time at all to sew. I find it sewing something nice quickly very therapeutic.

I liked the mint tank I made a little while ago so much I did basically the same thing but this time with a curved hem. It's a simple top but when you have a really nice fabric it will stand out no matter how plain the top is.

Finished - Mint Tank Top

I don't know if you noticed, but I'm a bit obsessed with tank tops. 80% of all the shirts I own are tank tops. I don't really wear anything else even though I live exclusively live in cold countries. It doesn't matter what season it is, I wear sleeveless tops. Obviously this means I can't have enough because it's all I wear.

When all you wear is one type of top, you try to make sure that it's not too plain. The lazy way out of stopping my tank tops from looking plain lately has been adding ties to my tops. This minty fabric felt perfect for nice ties around the neckline. The amount of times I've worn this top this summer is a bit embarrassing, but what can I say, I love this top.

Finished - Orange Fringe Top

I'm currently having a bit of a fringy moment right now. I love the texture fringe adds to a piece so I've been adding it to whatever I can.

This particular top has to be one of my favourites right now. I love the way the fringe and asymmetry work together to add interest.

Just Finished - Denim Tank

After making my new denim jacket there was only enough fabric to make one more basic piece. I did go back and forth over my options, but eventually, I decided a new top was the way to go. It was a quick project, all I had to do was pull out my diy tank top pattern (I've used plenty of times already here, here, & here) and get to working. I always use my own tank top pattern because it fits exactly the way I want it to. I like my tank tops loose and vaguely long. But the reason I really like the pattern is because of the armhole fit. I personally like it to be loose and low underneath my armpits.

Personally I can never have enough tank tops because I wear them year around. It's nice having one that's slightly different because of the denim fabric with the slight texture to it.

What I Wore - New Off-white Tank Top

I've been really into the idea of making sure I have some basics in my closet. What could be more basic than a white tank? Technically this one is off-white, sheer, and has faint stripes but you know what I mean. I just happened to have the fabric for this top laying around so I put it to good use.

New In - Red Polka Dot Tank

I found this small piece of red polka dot fabric and decided to make a quick tank out of it. There wasn't much of it so I'm glad I managed to squeak this out. I'm also happy I have something new that's red instead of blue. This is actually my favourite shade of red too -- more of an orange toned red.

New In - Another Transparent Top

I'm currently trying to find the perfect fit tank top. This one here is definitely the best I've ever made. This fabric is pretty sheer but the print stops it from looking too sheer. Then again, I'm not really known for shying away from sheer pieces.

New In - Diy Abstract Print Tank

I've been working on a whole bunch of black projects that I decided I needed some colour or I'd go crazy! Say hello to my new tank top. If the print looks a little familiar, then you might be thinking of this dress I made a while ago. The tank is made from a different part of the fabric so it's more colourful than the dress.  The fabric is a bit transparent which made having the blue sections covering certain parts of the body important. Obviously I'd most likely wear it with a tank underneath but you can barely see anything with just a bra.

I usually like my tops a little bit longer but this was really absolutely everything I had left of this fabric, so I'm lucky it's even this long.

Diy Tank Top

I know I said I'd iron my pieces before I took pictures of them but technically I did. I just left the tank tossed in a heap with other things overnight to get wrinkled again. This is one of the fabrics I photographed before. It's a nice blue crepe de chine which I only really bought enough of to make a tank, which made the decision making process of what to make easy.

It's just an easy loose fitting tank with a high neck. I didn't want it to look extremely boring so I added the slit and front seam just to break it up a bit.
