Finished - Yellow Pencil Skirt

I'm a sucker for an eye catching pencil skirt. Something about the basic silhouette works incredibly well with a unique fabric. After making this blazer, I still had quite a bit fabric leftover to make something else. I knew the fabric itself would make a beautiful skirt I just had to decide how long I wanted it. I have a habit of making miniskirts so I decided to change things up by making a knee length pencil skirt and here it is!

What I Wore - Striped Pencil Skirt & T-shirt

Laid-back summer days are definitely the best. It's been a rough start to summer here, but I've finally managed to pull out the light breezy clothes.  Here's one my diy skirts paired with a simple white t-shirt for an easy summer look. It's nice to show that not every dress or skirt I own is super short.

I've been working on a couple of projects so hopefully I'll be able to get them up on the blog soon. I prefer to show things I've done than just things I've worn.

Shirt // Diesel

DIY Pencil Skirt with Fringe

(Note to self - Iron before taking pictures)

Found this blue fabric while thrifting for only $1. I immediately thought it would make a great pencil skirt, however, I didn't want it to be too boring so I used the same fabric to add a fringe. With the cost of the zipper the entire skirt ended up just costing me $3, which if I may say so myself, is pretty good.

My new handmade sexy pencil skirt with adjustable leg slit!

Diy Pencil Skirt w/Zippered Slit

Confession, I love tweed. While out at the fabric store I saw this tweed fabric and knew I had to have it. I knew it would make a greet pencil skirt but I didn't want one that was too plain. I thought a good idea to spice it up would be a leg slit. Then I thought to make things easier for myself why not use one long zipper down the front so that it's easy to put on and the zipper could be zipped up and down to decide how much leg I wanted to show.

I made the skirt very form fitting because with the horizontal lines I didn't want to look boxy. The bottom of the skirt is tapered in so that when you open the zipper to show leg it doesn't turn into an a-line skirt.

Entirely Handmade Outfit

Summer Pencil Skirt

Found these old curtains while searching through my mother's storage and thought they'd make a great summer skirt! Now I have a new skirt that was essentially free.
