What I Wore - Plaid Skirt

There are leaves on the ground like it's fall but the weather still feels very summery. It's actually nice enough outside that I'm still rocking miniskirts. I showed you this skirt before but never got a picture up of how it looks like on.

I like the fact that it's a skirt with pockets but the pockets I chose to add might not have been the best choice. I added the pockets so that they protrude out a bit because I thought that would be cute. But the protruding pockets and having fabric that wrinkles easily means the pockets just look wrinkly most of the time. I still like the skirt and wore it often this summer but it just didn't end up being a great as it could have been.

Finished - Plaid Fringe Skirt

What, another fringe skirt? I liked the look so much when I did it in orange I decided to do make another fringe skirt in plaid.

I have a thing about not making dresses but making skirts and tops that match instead. I like having the choice of wearing them together so it almost looks like a dress but also having the choice to wear them separate.

Finished - Plaid Fringe Crop Top

I definitely feel like one person shouldn't have the number of crop tops I currently have. And yet, it hasn't stopped me from making more.

Check out the newest addition to my crop top arsenal.

Finished - Plaid Fringe Jacket

When I bought this fabric I had no clue what I was going to make with it. But whenever I get a lot of a specific I make something with sleeves for some reason. I figure you can't go wrong with a layering piece for cool weather; so why not a plaid fringe jacket?

Get The Style - Plaid Crop Top

Plaid Crop Top

What?!?!? A new segment???

As you might be able to tell, I love just whipping up whatever piece of clothing I want. Other people either can't or don't want to. I figured I'll try to find pieces that are vaguely similar to what I've just sewn on the interwebs from now on. I think it will be interesting to see how brands have decided to interpret the look... or to just shop.

Finished - Plaid Crop Top

Don't get me wrong, I do LOVE crop tops, but not as much as my sewing would have you believe. I actually sew so many crop tops to counter my hoarder behaviour. Instead of keeping a small piece of fabric, that isn't enough to make much of anything, I sneak out a crop top and call it a day. When I say this is ALL I could make out of the rest of the fabric I used to make this jacket and this skirt, I'm not exaggerating.

Sometimes you just need to make something quick and simple. It helps that usually things that are pretty simple get the most wear, which is really a win-win situation

Finished - Plaid Skirt With Pockets

Who cares that it isn't warm enough to actually wear a skirt? Sometimes you have to ignore the weather and make yourself happy. Bright colours and miniskirts make me INCREDIBLY happy. Another thing that makes me happy, pockets, and this puppy has two! I probably won't wear this bad boy with the jacket I made out of the same fabric but who knows...

Finished - Plaid Jacket

I've been lagging behind on posting the things I've sewn, which isn't exactly new. I manage to get a picture up on my Instagram (3 weeks ago for this jacket) but for some reason forget to post it here. I'm not entirely sure I can call this a jacket considering it's thickness but that's what I'm going with. What I wanted for my wardrobe was a long sleeve layering pieces for the winter and this fits the bill.

Next Project - Blue Wooven Sweater

I went thrifting the other day and managed to find this particular fabric hidden inbetween the shelves. It appealed to me because I liked the colour and thought it looked fun. Since the fabric itself is slightly thick, I'm thinking it would make a great long sleeve shirt. My schedule is pretty open right now so there is a good chance you'll see this done real soon.

New In - Plaid Coat

Best part about having super loud jackets? You can wear extremely simple clothes underneath and the whole outfit still ends up fun.

I found this jacket while thrifting and had to have it. I'm thinking of making it a little fitted but i'm not sure I will. Looking at the jacket and how it's sewed together it's clear that it's meant to be boxy and not fitted so I might just stick with the shape. I took off the belt because I'm in the process of fixing it and making a little change though.
